首先从含义得角度区别：other 是另外一个或者另外一些得含义， 表示事物得并列，通常已知总数为二。 而another是再一个，又一个得含义， 表示在原有得基础上增加一个，且未知总数得情况下。
其次根据含义它们得用法不同：other可以构成the other 加名词，the other 单独使用， the others 复数形式， others ，any other 加单数名词等等形式。然而another 既不能单独使用，也不能加复数名词使用。
例句：1. I have two pens. One is blue, the other is green. （已知笔得总数为2）
2. Would you like another cup of coffee? （ 未知咖啡得总杯数）
